Poems in the style of ‘The Highwayman’

Our literacy unit over the last three weeks has been narrative poetry. We have looked at such poems as The owl and the pussycat, The Pied Piper of Hamelin The Highwayman. We decided to write a poem in the style of The Highwayman  which was a tough proposition as it includes an unusual rhyming pattern, similes and metaphors, repetition and (most importantly) it needs to tell a story.

Some of the children’s work is still being completed, but here are some of the first finished poems:
